IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING CHANGES TO 2009/10 BUS ROUTES
Stanwood-Camano School District’s funding is decreasing in 2009-10 because of the state budget deficit and declining student enrollment. As a result, the district needs to reduce costs in all areas. Unfortunately, these reductions will affect students, families, and district employees. The transportation department has had to make the following adjustments due to these challenging funding declines:
Changes to Middle & High School Routes
-
Middle and high school students that live within 1 mile of school
(as the crow flies) where there are sidewalks and crosswalks available
will no longer have bus service. The state does not fund the district
to transport students that live within 1 mile of their school. This
change will not affect elementary students.
-
Middle and high school students living on dead end roads that are
less than 1 mile long will need to meet the bus at the main road. This
change will not affect elementary students.
Changes to Elementary School Routes
-
Elementary routes #2 and #12 (Elger Bay & Utsalady Elem.
routes) have turnarounds that are one and two short blocks from the
main road. These turnarounds will be eliminated and students will meet
the bus at the main road.

A complete list of the 2009-10 bus routes will be posted in mid-July to
the Stanwood-Camano School District (SCSD) Web site and included in the Community Schools
newsletter sent to all addresses in the district in early August.
The transportation department will be open through June 30th and then
office staff will be back beginning July 20th. Please call us at (360)
